SIGNATURE FLIGHT SUPPORT
BOEING FIELD KING COUNTY INTL. AIRPORT, SEATTLE, WA
Rivers & Christian teamed with teD design studio to provide design services to Signature Flight Services. Rivers & Christian was the Executive Architect for the project and teD provided the design through 30%.
Signature Flight Support inaugurated its new $11.5 million fixed base operation (FBO) in May of 2016, a state of the art FBO with all the amenities for aircraft owners, pilots and facility administration. The project consists of a 6,250 sq. ft. executive terminal, 62 automobile parking spaces for customers and Charter operation, porte cochere, utility substation, and aircraft ramp on a 7.06 acre site.
The metal-clad rain screen terminal, a one story structure with 18 feet high open structure ceilings utilizes the latest energy efficient LED technology for lighting and high-efficiency climate control. The project cost included demolishing an old facility and hangar as part of the redevelopment process and is planned to accommodate an additional 20,000 sq. ft. Hangar.
Signature collaborated with Boeing Field King County Airport and King County Water & Land Resources Department and King County Department of Permitting and Environmental Review to establish an experimental system for stormwater management as part of the new development. This system is being monitored to determine if acceptable to use on future airport development projects on a site with very challenging drainage issues.
“Signature’s new facility at Boeing Field King County International Airport is a fantastic option, especially for aircraft traveling trans-pacific as a tech stop. We are pleased to have this magnificent facility in the Pacific Northwest with Seattle’s long history in aviation and rich cultural attributes. We are especially pleased with the relationship we have with the airport and County government resulting in a collaborative stormwater management innovation. We are invested for the long-term and see a bright future for the airport and the Seattle area”, stated Maria A. Sastre, President and Chief Operating Officer for Signature Flight Support.
“King County International Airport/Boeing Field is thrilled to be part of this celebration of Signature Flight’s new executive terminal,” Airport Director Randall Berg said. “As one of our biggest Fixed-Base Operators (FBOs), Signature’s success is a testament to the role it plays in Northwest aviation. Their new facility, located a stone’s throw away from the Airport’s main terminal building, is another example of how, by working together, the future of this Airport is limitless.”
Signature also operates at Seattle Tacoma International Airport providing fueling, executive terminal facilities and flight support services.
