Rivers & Christian provided complete architectural services for the design of the field Project Management Offices for the LAX Terminal Cores Project. The site selected by LAWA is located on the 2nd floor of the Korean Cargo Building and is approximately 15,000 square feet with existing rooms and partial height walls. R&C upgraded the design of the aging building, removing most of the existing finishes, walls, and ceilings to accommodate ninety staff workstations, with dedicated collaboration areas. The office houses the LAWA Project Management staff, Architect, and Contractor for the Design-Build 5.5 and West Terminal Cores that will connect TIBIT, T5 and T6 terminal passengers arriving and departing on the future Automated People Mover.

A combination of open offices with cubicles, phone booths for privacy as well as a provision for a possible future noise cancellation system for the open workspaces, enclosed executive offices and conference rooms with provision for multiple wall monitors for collaborative work, was created so the different professional disciplines occupying the space can more closely coordinate their efforts as a team on the building of the Automated People Mover (APM) Terminal Cores in the Central Terminal Area.

The existing finishes for the most part were removed, open ceiling areas expose the new HVAC system, the central circulation corridor was defined through the space with a linear fabric ribbed ceiling and simulated wood flooring. A glass wall along the corridor opened the space up to flexible sized conference rooms, and private offices. A new flexible kitchen and break room were designed, with the capability to be used as a conference room in off hours.
